Thanks for visiting the website.  Our law firm was founded in April 2002 following employment with several small and established larger corporations and small and large law firms.  Our practice is almost exclusively limited to intellectual property law (patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, licensing) and occasionally overlaps with other related areas such as employment law and antitrust law.  I have worked in the intellectual property area since 1992 and have been licensed since 1999.

Our purpose is to serve our clients effectively by providing them with high quality legal services at reasonable rates.  Among my strengths is that I have worked both sides of the fence, having been employed by both corporations and law firms, giving me a balanced view of what clients are likely to expect and how to give it to them.  One job I have been effective at is in educating my clients to better understand the various processes involved with their intellectual property position.  This is an ongoing effort and one I enjoy very much as better informed clients are easier to work with which ultimately results in less time spent on a project by me and therefore lower fees to the client.  At the beginning of a project, depending on how long I have worked with the client, I typically spend time explaining specifically what I need from the client to best get started and how to present it to me.

We have clients all over the United States, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, and New York, among others.  They vary in size between individual inventors, start ups, emerging and established corporations.  Some clients I have never met face to face, which brings up the point that in this age of electronic miracles it is usually not necessary for us to actually meet to deal with intellectual property issues, although there are sometimes exceptions where a physical meeting is necessary.

An intellectual property law practice is challenging but also fascinating and a lot of fun and I like to think I wouldn’t be doing this if I wasn’t having a good time.  It is a genuine thrill when I go to my office in the morning and sometimes I can’t believe I get paid to do what I enjoy doing so much.  I am a third generation lawyer; my Dad was also a patent attorney who is no longer with us, but whose spirit figures large in the way this law firm is run.  Please give us a call or send an email if we might be of service to you.
